I always knew I had an artistic temperament. I can be broody and tentative or pleasant and receptive in my moods. This temperament was completely under control yesterday - after all I was going to see the works of those who have earned the right to one.
Yesterday, we went up to London to see the paintings at National Gallery. The funniest thing about this expensive country is that the best things to see are absolutely free whilst some of the most hyped and undeserving places charge an arm and a leg. Madame Tussauds take a bow.
The National Gallery has paintings from the 13th century upto the early 20th century. There are about 46 rooms full of paintings from masters such as Cezanne, Reubens, Van Gogh, Monet, Carvaggio, Da vinci and Picasso. It was a truly humbling experience to see some of the best works the world has known. Make it a point to visit this place whenever you visit London next.
Now here's your chance to make millions. Reuben's masterpiece "The massacre of the innocents" sold for £49.5 million in an auction. So you can well imagine the price one of my early works can fetch. You can have this work of art for absolutely free if you answer a simple question correctly.
What was the shape of my 1st year birthday cake ?
You will find the answer in one of my blog entries. Just write the answer as a comment to this blog and I will send it by post.
Oh and the piece of art is crayons on paper drawn with the same verve and intensity of Van Gogh. Go on, you know you want it.
this definitely has to be a Teddy Bear. How can i forget that since my wife (your kajal aunty) keeps calling me Teddy Bear post honey moon (Cant tell you why so fast, keep guessing till you are of the right age before i tell you). so when can i have the Teddy bear cake, dont misunderstand this would be for your kajal aunty and i am sure she is not going to share it with anyone not even me...
ReplyDeleteWell Kalpesh Kaka (a.k.a. Teddy Bear) you are now the proud winner of my drawing. Make sure you frame it properly and keep it where everyone can apppreciate
ReplyDeleteBut Ofcourse will place it on my living room and get a color photostat and take it to my office work station as well. As an appreciation of your kind gesture i would have a sketch ready for you when you come to india (It would be your sketch definitely). This would be made by your kajal kaki (but ofcourse, if i make it, it would look something like all our ancestors, so would prefer she makes it). And would like to see the halloween pumpkin ASAP, ask dad to upload the picture of the youngest pumpkin in the class once you are back from your school.
